Bromo Mountain

Gunung Bromo merupakan salah satu tujuan wisata di Jawa Timur. Tempat wisata alam ini terletak di Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru di timur kota Malang, Jawa Timur. Bromo terletak di 4 wilayah, yaitu Kabupaten Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Lumajang, dan Malang. Pengunjungnya bukan hanya wisatawan lokal tetapi banyak yang berasal dari luar negeri.

Bromo berasal dari bahasa Sansekerta/Jawa Kuno yaitu Brahma, salah seorang Dewa Utama Hindu, Bromo adalah merupakan gunung berapi yang masih aktif. Masyarakat yang tinggal disekitar kawasan gunung Bromo berasal dari suku Tengger, mereka sangat baik dan ramah dengan para pengunjung. Mereka berjualan makanan, minuman, dan souvenir (khususnya yang berupa ikatan bunga edelweis yang berasal dari gunung bromo).

Gunung Bromo mempunyai ketinggian 2.392 meter di atas permukaan laut. Bentuk tubuh Gunung Bromo bertautan antara lembah dan ngarai dengan kaldera atau lautan pasir seluas sekitar 10 kilometer persegi, mempunyai kawah dengan garis tengah ± 800 meter (utara-selatan) dan ± 600 meter (timur-barat), dan daerah bahayanya berupa lingkaran dengan jari-jari 4 km dari pusat kawah Bromo.

Untuk mencapai kaki Gunung Bromo, sebaiknya memilih berjalan kaki atau dapat menyewa kuda. Dengan berjalan kaki kita dapat merasakan lautan pasir yang luas, sinar matahari yang terik, jarak yang jauh, debu yang berterbangan dapat membuat perjalanan semakin berat. Pengunjung biasanya mengunjungi gunung Bromo ini sejak dini hari dengan tujuan melihat terbitnya matahari. Untuk mencapai kawasan itu, kita harus menaiki Gunung Pananjakan yang merupakan gunung tertinggi di kawasan ini. Kita harus menaiki anak tangga yang jumlahnya mencapai 250 anak tangga untuk dapat melihat kawah Gunung Bromo yang mengeluarkan asap, lautan pasir dengan pura di tengah-tengahnya dan menyaksikan terbitnya matahari. Jika langit sedang berawan, munculnya matahari ini tidak terlihat secara jelas. Tetapi jika langit sedang cerah, kita dapat melihat bulatan matahari yang pertama-tama hanya sekecil pentul korek api, perlahan-lahan membesar dan akhirnya membentuk bulatan utuh dan memberi penerangan sehingga kita dapat melihat pemandangan gunung-gunung yang ada di kawasan ini (Gunung Bromo, Gunung Batok, atau Gunung Semeru yang merupakan gunung tertinggi di Pulau Jawa, Kawah gunung Bromo dan lautan pasir gunung Bromo). Menyenangkan dan sungguh merupakan pemandangan yang sangat langka dan luar biasa menarik.

Tangkuban Perahu Mountain

Tangkuban Perahu, or Tangkuban Parahu in local Sundanese dialect mean boat capsize in english. Tangkuban Perahu mountain, is one of the volcanoes are located in West Java, the located name is Lembang, about 30 km north of the city of Bandung with the altitude of 2,084 meter above sea level with lush pine trees and spread of tea gardens in the area. The shape of the mountain is maar or shield that has burst 400 years ago. The most type of rock through eruption is lava and sulfur, a mineral that issued is sulfur, a mineral issued when the mountain not active is sulfur steam. The average temperature is 17oC daily at noon and 2 OC at night. Tangkuban Perahu, which from a distance looked like the boat capsize.

The last burst of mountain in 1910 and have 9 crater of active volcano until now. The craters name are "Ratu" creater, "Upas" creater, "Domas" creater, "Baru" creater, "Jurig" creater, "Badak" creater, "Jurian" creater, "Siluman" creater and "Pangguyungan Badak" creater. The Ratu creater is the largest, after that Upas creater where is located alongside with the Ratu creater. Some craters removing sulfur smell of smoke, there is even a crater forbidden to going down, because the smoke contain of poisons. Tangkuban Parahu have Dipterokarp Hill area of forest, Dipterokarp Top forest, Montane forest, and Ericaceous forest or mountains forest.

Enchantment Tangkuban Perahu is so impressive, it is a popular tourist attraction where tourists can hike or ride to the edge of the crater to view the hot water springs upclose, and buy eggs cooked on its hot surface, even the weather is sunny, depressions in the ground wall craters can be seen clearly, not only that, we can enjoy to see the beauty primary craters,that is very impressive. The natural beauty of Tangkuban Perahu mountain to makes become one of the attractions of natural mainstay of West Java Province, particularly for Bandung. Every weekend, Tangkuban Perahu area always crowded by visitors who want to see the beautiful panorama of Tangkuban Perahu mountain. Don't worry about hotel, there are so many in there for staying or overnight if you want.

Local Legend of the Tangkuban Perahu Mountain:
The name translates roughly to "upturning of (a) boat" or "upturned boat" in Sundanese, referring to the local legend of its creation. The story tells of "Dayang Sumbi", a beauty who lived in West Java. She cast away her son "Sangkuriang" for disobedience, and in her sadness was granted the power of eternal youth by the gods. After many years in exile, Sangkuriang decided to return to his home, long after the two had forgotten and failed to recognize each other. Sangkuriang fell in love with Dayang Sumbi and planned to marry her, only for Dayang Sumbi to recognize his birthmark just as he was about to go hunting. In order to prevent the marriage from taking place, Dayang Sumbi asked Sangkuriang to (1) build a dam on the river Citarum and (2) build a large boat to cross the river, both before the sunrise. Sangkuriang meditated and summoned mythical ogre-like creatures -buta hejo or green giant(s)- to do his bidding. Dayang Sumbi saw that the tasks were almost completed and called on her workers to spread red silk cloths east of the city, to give the impression of impending sunrise. Sangkuriang was fooled, and upon believing that he had failed, kicked the dam and the unfinished boat, resulting in severe flooding and the creation of Tangkuban perahu from the hull of the boat.

Bromo and Semeru Mountains

If you are traveling to East Java, unfortunately if not visit to the Nature Tours area of Bromo-Semeru National Park. Moreover the weather is cool and fresh condition and nature mountainous is imprisoned.

Event around of 14th or 15th in Kesodo [to-ten] of mount according to the Java calendar, you can witness the Kesodo ritual ceremony, which was held by the Tengger Ethnic. Kesodo is a rituality ceremony for pray as omen blessings from the God.

How to achieve in this area.
You can reach this area by a car Around 125 Km from Juanda Intrnational Airport (Surabaya). And there are four main gates to enter to this national park area that is: Cemorolawang village if through via Probolinggo traffic lane, Wonokitri village through via Pasuruan traffic lane, Ngadas village through via Malang traffic lane and Burno village through via Lumajang traffic lane.

Overnight place
Various hotels and lodging can be found in the Bromo-Semeru National Park district, from the cottage till four star hotels can be made the choice to stay in the Bromo with low price.

And you can wander around in the area National Park with rented of the vehicle jeep type 4x4. Or if you want to wander around only at sand sea of Bromo, you can ride on horseback, which many available for rent in there.

Suggestion
The best season for visits around June till October and December till January.
Your health should be excellent and should be prepared the previsions of cold weather such as warm clothing, headgear, gloves and the much provision of foods and drinks when you trip will be better if you buy a stock of food and drink as your stock.
